You eat mushrooms, so you don't mind flirting with danger. There are excellent blue mussels and California blue mussels growing on the reef at the stone wall. I ate them twice but then quit because of the threat of paralytic shellfish poisening. If they are OK you could live off them all winter. David Hamel sdhamel@maqs.net
We're back in Washington taking on our second year of farming on Vashon Island. What proceeds on this page are pictures and a few stories from our experiences tending the land. We've got the help of two apprentices this year and the hodgepodge of regular and irregular volunteers. We sell mainly through the CSA and a restaurant in Seattle, and at the road-side stand and the farmer's market on the island.
