Five years ago, it was footprints like those that turned us around and sent us back into the skiff, ending our visit to the big river. sdhamel@maqs.net
those tracks seem to be saying, "my way or the highway" awesome pic! liked the shot of harleqin ducks and the opening big river shot also. My only experience with Stegner is the novel Crossing to Safety, which is good if a little tedious regarding reading about the intrigues of tthe academic life style. Can't remember if I mentioned to you John McPhee's fine non-fiction "Coming Into the Country", revealing the lives of homesteaders in Alaska. He has a memorable grizzley encounter in the opening chapters. Got both of your e-mails, thanks much. I'm recommending your blog to my kids. Jenn - Liza has a blog for her baby called walk this weih.blogspot.com (Ithink) I'm going to try to find it now. All the best - Fred
We're back in Washington taking on our second year of farming on Vashon Island. What proceeds on this page are pictures and a few stories from our experiences tending the land. We've got the help of two apprentices this year and the hodgepodge of regular and irregular volunteers. We sell mainly through the CSA and a restaurant in Seattle, and at the road-side stand and the farmer's market on the island.
